    3. Thank you, Sharon. His name was Xavier Braun and was married to Magdalena Lindel. He was born 18 Apr 1813 and lived in Lautenbach Zell. He left for America in January of 1848 from I think, Le Havre. He had two children, Theophil and Mary (or Anna Marie). They left for New York but I don't know the arrival date or the ship they were on. Somehow they located in Missouri but again I don't know if they took another ship or how they got there. Any help with these "loose ends" would be great! Thank you.     3. Mary Jo, There is a Xavier Braun listed as traveling with wife and two children (no names given), birthplace Lauternbach-Zell. The date of emigration is 1-24-1848, to New York (which probably means they went through Castle Gardens). His profession is given as Farmer. Unfortunately that's all there is, but the information came from "the Alsace Emigration Index, a cardfile put on microfilm by the Mormon archives in Salt Lake City." Perhaps you can get more from that source.
