    3. Listers, I'm posting this email sent last Friday directly to "Manfred" <hd53fle@aol.com>. I have not heard from him in response, and don't know if his email address has changed since 2 Jan when he posted his inquiry. Cari ====================================== From: Cari Carolyn Thomas <western37@cox.net> Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2008 11:28:32 -0800 To: <hd53fle@aol.com> Subject: FW: GI 1945 Landshut Dear Manfred, <hd53fle@aol.com> Earlier this month I read your query to the Alsace-Lorraine mailing list, re: DEPRESS. While I could not give you any help, I'm now in contact with a (very) distant relative in Landshut, Bavaria. You will see here the results from my query to him regarding your soldier in that town in WWII. I'm sorry, but since Helmuth did not respond to you directly nor give me permission to share his email address, I cannot give it to you. Hopefully, his information will help you in your search. Good luck! .....and may your 2008 be a happy year! Cari Thomas >Hello Helmuth! >I was surprised today, reading a mailing list posting (see below) for researchers in the Alsace and Lorraine areas of France, to find LANDSHUT mentioned! The writer: Manfred, is searching for the Alsatian ancestry of DEPRESS, and mentions that he is looking for an American soldier stationed in Landshut in 1945. >I immediately thought of you, and wondered if there might be any records in Landshut that might help this person. >I¹ll leave this to you, if you would like to correspond with him; From: hd53fle@aol.com >Carolyn >>Date: Wed, 02 Jan 2008 21:14:40 -0500 >>From: hd53fle@aol.com >>Subject: Re: [A-L] look-up 1836 census >>To: alsace-lorraine@rootsweb.com >>I've been looking for a Herman Thomas Depress who was a US Soldier stationed in Landshut, Bavaria, Germany in 1945.? Unfortunately all the "D" in the Military Records were supposedly burned in the fire of 1973.? My mother told me he came from Bridgeport, Connecticut but I have not been able to find any Depress in that area. Gone with the wind ...... Maybe Mr. Depress could find some news in the "Unit Nominal Registers" (Unit Roster) or war-vets of the above-mentioned units (see "google"). Ciao Helmuth K. -Landshut
