Hi Barbara, I have not been following your thread of questions and answers on the A-L Mail List so will attempt to answer some of your questions. Ewald and Charlie are both list members like you and I are. Ewald lives in Europe and Charlie lives in the U.S. If anyone has resources such as books, CDs, microfilm, club memberships, et al . , everyone tries to help each other out by doing look-ups for each other on a volunteer basis on this A-L Mail List. What researchers you may use and/or hire from outside the realm of this list, would be private of course. I don't know if there exist cemetery indices for Wissembourg (the town or the district?). Perhaps they are available at the town offices or at the parish/church/synagogue level. Did they survive through the wars? Various National or Departmental Archives holding the major documents may have archived newspapers there or are in Strasbourg. Perhaps someone else may have more definitive answers to give you regarding those questions. We all have our favorite links & resources, which vary. The most important records for ancestral research are those which have been preserved on microfilm thus far, in my opinion. The further you delve into genealogy research, you will be forming your own ideas and it too will be based on your particular research quest.
