I have recently found what I hope is the family of my Great Grandfather, Frederick Lehning, born in Alsace 1833; emigrated to America ca. 1853. The family, according to the 1836 census for Wissembourg: Jacques ( Jacob) Lehning - age 33 - day laborer - Protestant - (père) Marie Salomé née Christmann - age 33- (mère) Children: Salomé - Daughter - age 7 Jacques - son - age 5 Frederic ( sic) - son - age 4 Madeleine - daughter - age 1 the address: 112 Rue Endenloch, Woerth Does anyone have a link to this family or the surnames mentioned? Of the 16 Lehning families in the area, this is the only one which appears to match the data I have found. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who may have a connection to either surname.
