    3. I agree. The films are not sold, but are on indefinite rental. If you think you are going to have trouble disciphering, the LDS center probably has the equipment to print the documents you need on paper for a nominal fee - maybe 25cents a copy, then you can look at them for all the time you want. Or take them to someone who can read the writing. I am Lutheran, so I asked some of the retired people from my church, who were originally from Germany and they loved to translate for me. Perhaps you are confusing "purchasing" with "indefinite rental." Microfilm rentals may be rented 2 more times (total of 3 consecutive rentals at US$5.50 + some FHCs also charge a handling charge) and, if the FHC has storage (local option), the microfilms can be placed on "indefinite rental" and permanently stored at the FHC (meaning may be used by any patron but they may not leave the FHC).
