I agree. The films are not sold, but are on indefinite rental. If you think you are going to have trouble disciphering, the LDS center probably has the equipment to print the documents you need on paper for a nominal fee - maybe 25cents a copy, then you can look at them for all the time you want. Or take them to someone who can read the writing. I am Lutheran, so I asked some of the retired people from my church, who were originally from Germany and they loved to translate for me.
