    3. Barb, I missed your question, too. If you are referring to, as Valorie mentioned, immigrants to the present, one might just have to go to the locality one's ancestors immigrated to. These obits were not all in German, depending on the place and the dates. I have had tremendous help from a personal "link" (human being , that is) I happened upon by "googling" (he collects obits!) but this might be difficult for many of us. Ancestry.com does have a large selection of newspapers - one has to put in a name to a certain newspaper in their archives. I did find, by chance, an obit which led me to the immigration, that of I was totally unaware of, of an ancestor. Another way is to check the area's genealogical resources. It's a matter of dig and search. Old newspapers in Alsace remain an unknown to me, too.
