Can someone explain why our links to websites often come up as duplicated back to back? I just sent one out for Trader Joe's and it showed up as a back-back link. It is frustrating when you send a link to the group and it doesn't work correctly. Feedback appreciated, Janice
I think you are putting some signs in front and after the link that are part of html language and are changing the web address. Just highlight and copy the entire link in your browser window, paste, and press enter. - Giliane -----Original Message----- From: alsace-lorraine-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:alsace-lorraine-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of JANICE GRAEF Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 11:04 PM To: alsace-lorraine Subject: [A-L] Duplicate web address Can someone explain why our links to websites often come up as duplicated back to back? Janice, I believe it happens when a person types in an abbreviation of the complete URL address to a web site (i.e., leaving off the http://). The system is smart enough to recognize this and tries to correct for it. Unfortunately the software designer who wrote this code didn't include a space between the incorrect and correct addresses (there is probably a good reason for this - possibly to force us to learn to type it properly), leaving the two linked.
