I am looking for info on my grandfather Isaac KLINE. Or Isaac KLEIN, as it is spelt on his marriage certificate where he is the son of Harry and Emma KLEIN. He did not seem to have any contact with relatives after coming to Canada about 1888-92. What follows is our oral family history of him. Ike was born in Alsace-Lorraine 12 Apr 1874 of a French mother and a German father. He was sent to a military academy in Berlin, where his grandfather lived, when he was five (1879). At age 14-18, he and a cousin left there for a different life. They eventually came to Brantford, Ontario, Canada but continued on to Buffalo, New York. That's pretty skimpy, but that's it. Ike returned to Brantford when he was 18 and became a coachman for the Cockshutt Plow Company which was the main industry there. Ike married Harriet (Annie) Hayhurst in 12 Apr 1896 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada and migrated west in 1900. Perhaps someone can suggest where I might check for his name at the Military Academies in Berlin.
