    3. Never heard before. "Chemin" might refer to "Chemin de Fer" which is "railway". "publicite" does not mean "public" but "advertisement" Where did you find this "Inspecteur de la Publicite des Chemin" ? Could give me the whole text in French ?     3. Jean-Paul, Thanks for your response. There really isn't any context. This information comes from the death record for Eugene Joseph EHLY, in the village of Niederstinzel, 30 Jul 1865. It gives his name, his occupation, and his age when he died, and that he was born in Bourcher.     3. Does anyone know what a palfrenier is? My dictionary defines it as a groom, but in this death record I'm looking at, it's used as a profession. I've looked on-line and it appears to has something to do with horses. Thanks in advance. -- Dave Francis, CNJ Santa Cruz, California
