Family tradition says that His mother who may have been Magdalen Huhn shipped half of her sons to America and half to Algeria because of the constant wars. From marriage records I have his parents as Henry & Magdalen. I have not been able to find a town where he came from, nothing in Castle Garden, nothing in Naturalization records, nothing in death records, no ship records....>> Hi Gerry, The CAOM (Centre des Archives d'Outre-Mer at Aix-en-Provence in south of France) keeps the civil archives of Algeria for the period 1830-1962. For more info, see at : http://www.archivesnationales.culture.gouv.fr/caom/fr/ According to this center, only Robert HUHN who died in 1865 in Algiers is listed in their database. I asked a volunteer living near the CAOM to send me a copy of his death record which says that: Robert HUHN, single, student, 25 years old, born in Szudowicz (Prussia), with his home in Halle (Germany), died 21 January 1865 at 1:00 AM in Algiers/Alger, 1 rue du Hamma. No information about his father and mother (mention ''sans renseignement''). First declarant: Frédéric Schafetech, 42 years old, living in Algiers, no related to the deceased Second declarant: Félix Alix, employee, 40 years old, living in Algiers, no related to the deceased. If necessary, I can send you the death certificate as attachment at your private email address. All the best from Alsace Ewald
