Hello Dorothy, Thanks for all this informations and the time you past for my research.I search about living LENTZ descendants. I hoped one of them was connected on Rootsweb otherwise it's very difficult to found them in Illinois. Family search give me as submitter of my family John Arthur MITCHELL 415 North Cross Lane Monroe, Georgia 30656 but I had no contact with them. Un grand merci pour votre aide. Nicole ( living in the French Alps)
Hello Nicole: I am sorry I cannot tell you about the living Lentz relatives--our census schedules end in 1930, but I can give you a few ideas. In DeKalb County, Illinois, not too far from Chicago, is a cemetery called East Pierce Cemetery. This cemetery is the resting place for Albert Schumacher and his wife Judith. Albert b. 1879 d. 1947, and Judith b. 1882, died 1954. Also in the same cemetery lies Frederick Lentz, father, b. Sept. 17, 1851,died March 1, 1938,; Mary Alice Lentz (I was correct out her name) b. June 25, 1859, died July 3, 1929. Also their son W. (William) Ralph, b. Jan. 21, 1880, died Jan. 28, 1959, and Alma Maude, their daughter born February 17, 1885, died July 24, 1918. There is also a John Lentz 1869-1945 and Anna L. Lentz 1870-1956. My suggestion is to find a local library in DeKalb County, and find if they have newspaper microfilm, go through those microfilm for the correct dates and find obituaries, and in the obituaries in our country they almost always list the surviving members of the family. I do this all the time with my genealogy. You can probably track down living family members that way. I am sure the librarian would be happy to help you. I am delighted that you write a few words in French--I have not taken French in 58 years--I have been out of high school that long, but find I can still read it. Bon chance, Dorothy Baker Gainesville, Florida

Bonjour - here is some info on Cahokia, IL Cahokia is a village in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2000 census, the village had a population of 16,391. The name is a reference to the Cahokia tribe, a part of the Illini confederacy. Cahokia Mounds, a Native American landmark near Collinsville, Illinois was also named for this tribe which lived in the Illinois area at the time of French contact. Cahokia is the home of the Cahokia Courthouse (c1740) and the Jarrot Mansion (c1810). you can read more at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cahokia,_Illinois blessings - Blessings~Pam~ Pam Frierdich-Staley http://www.frierdich-staley-familytree.com http://www.michael-steppig-family-tree.com Researching: Frierdich, Friedrich, Michalek (Michael, Micheal), Schallom, Hatter, Kleyer, Rapp, Mentel, Schellhorn,Roos, Bangert, Diesel, Keifer, Mees/Maeys/Maas/Mayss, Reiss/Ries/Reis, Steppig, Hortel, Braun, Monsen, Staley/Stehli Mitchell, Weber, Kerner, Simpson, Diesser, Thoele/Thole, Meyer, Fields, White ----- Original Message ----- From: "ginic" <nicole.gignoux@wanadoo.fr> To: <alsace-lorraine@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 09, 2008 8:35 AM Subject: Re: [A-L] Family LENTZ Bonjour et merci à tous ceux qui m'ont si gentiment répondu, donné des conseils, des idées, des pistes..
