    3. Looking for a connection for Alfred Robert deAlba b. 1855 in Strasbourg. Came to Baltimore, MD, USA "as a boy" in news article dated 10 September 1893 and mentioned it was "the first time he had visited his birthland in 22 years". He was supposedly left $100,000 by his mother in Strasbourg "some time ago".  His mother had a will but I do not know her name. Alfred was an agent of a well-known French champagne firm.

Sept 1855 in New York, married since 14 years (estimated marriage year is 1886) resided in Fort Spring district (west side), Greenbrier, West Virginia, with his nephew John Highlander, farm laborer and his niece Sonie(?) Highlander, housekeeper, both born May 1879 (21 years of age) in ?? (not clear for me), parents born in Virginia. The parents of Alfred R. Dealba are both born in France. Hope this helps. Ewald
