I think that is terrible that someone or some people would make you feel that you are "dumb". We all are trying to find our lost relatives and many of us struggle over and over to find them. Don't give up because of a few petty minds. I have not e-mail many on the Alsace-Lorraine site but do look at what others have to say. Right now I am struggling in trying to find the ship that my great grandfather came over on but so far have come up with a empty answer. -----Original Message----- From: alsace-lorraine-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:alsace-lorraine-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Freemyer, Cindy Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2008 11:19 AM To: alsace-lorraine@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [A-L] Blochinger Inquiry--Apology I deeply apologize to any and all that I may have offended in quoting the only information I have that is documented about my relative below. I have not had the luxury of traveling overseas and trusted the information as recorded about "Strasburg" was correct. My intent was honorable and sincerely meant to seek help and "direction" from this group that I see so much activity from. Unfortunately, it took me many weeks to find the courage to ask my question for fear that I would appear "dumb" and my fear was confirmed. I will no longer be on the list and again I am sorry for any offense. For those that felt the need to chastise me, I think I now understand (at least as far as I can tell from the vast information on the internet) that Strasburg and Strasbourg are not the same??? My family came from the Alsace-Lorraine region...that is really all I know for sure as the family is not united on their country of origin. I will try to solve the mysteries on my own. Good day to all, Cfree Cindy Freemyer From: Freemyer, Cindy Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2008 2:43 PM To: alsace-lorraine@rootsweb.com Subject: Blochinger Inquiry My great-great-great-great Grandfather Pierre Blochinger "(born approximately 1783 near the town of Strasburg, then France (now Germany)) traveled to the USA with his wife and some of his children and their families in 1842." They entered the US through New Orleans. However, I have been unsuccessful in determining any other information about him and the family prior to leaving France. If anyone has any knowledge of the Blochinger (Blockinger) family and can point me in a new direction, I would be most appreciative! Thanks.
