Charlie: Would you please look in the list of the 1752, 1815 Les Militaries de 1792-1815 for the name of Josef Deichler. My grandfather, Josef Deichler, who was married to Margaret Spingler came to the United States in 1892. Supposedly he had been in the military service. Also his father, Josef Deichler, May have beeen in the military service. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks. Hello Marie, According to the site http://www.geopatronyme.com/ the name DEICHLER was very rare in France between 1891-1915, only 4 births in two departements: - in Bas-Rhin (Alsace): in Bischheim and Schiltigheim - in Moselle (Lorraine): in Petite-Rosselle That's not too extensive to search them all.
