    3. Thanks, Etienne, I wonder if the Frnech government would issue one posthumously for an ancestor that was missed. In 1857, Jacob Schirck was living in Warren, Pennsylvania. I do have copies of his discharge papers that were scanned and sent to me by a cousin.
