My family has told me that my great grandpa Franciscus "Frank" Romain came from Alsace-Lorraine. The only information I can find is the census that says he was from France and born in 1840. A record I found for a "Frank" Romain says he sailed from LeHavre and arrived in New York 1871. He somehow ended up in the German part of Lively Grove, Washington County, Illinois. He married a woman named Mary and had John, Dominic, Frederick and Anna (Annie). They moved to Keuterville, Idaho where there were many other German families in 1888-89. Mary died shortly thereafter and is said to be the first person buried in the Keuterville Cemetery. Frank died in 1925 and spent much of his later years with his daughter Annie. Frank's son Frederick married Josepha Kaufmann in 1908 and they homesteaded to Montana in 1913. Thank you, Angela Romain in Phoenix, AZ
