I am having some trouble with a 1756 record. It says: Den 4ten Januar war Dom: p. Circumcisionem Christi, und den 11ten ejusd: Dom: I. p. Epiphania ... Here is what I have: On the 4th of January, which was Sunday after ?? , and on the 11th of the same month, which was the first Sunday after Epiphany, ... I would appreciate any help. Thanks. best, Paul
I'm just guessing here, but "circumcission of the Christ". I'm not exactly familiar with this holy date. So off to Google I go ... Google says to go to wikipedia's article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feast_of_the_Circumcision_of_Christ This would have happened 8 days after his birth, which is celebrated on the 8th day of Christmas or January 1. Of course we can't really be sure December 25 is the right birthday. ;') Brian On Thu, August 18, 2011 7:53 am, [email protected] wrote: > I am having some trouble with a 1756 record. > > It says: > Den 4ten Januar war Dom: p. Paul, as far as I know, the circumcision of Jesus was celebrated on January 1st, i.e. 7 days after Christmas. So is this right: On the 4th of January, which was the Sunday after January 1, and on the 11th of the same month, which was the first Sunday after Epiphany, ?
