RE: the comments on notarial records: If you're lucky enough to have ancestry in Bas-Rhin's Weiterswiller, local historian François Schunk has very graciously posted in his wonderful Weiterswiller webpages: <http://www.alouette-bleue.fr/SiteWeiters/accueil.html> 1) the Aug 1804 through May 1830 notarial acts of Me. Jean Pierre Dieterich And 2) the May 1830 to Feb 1839 notarial acts of Me. Klipfel, successor of Me.Dieterich. What might you find? Among other ancestral records, I found the sale of Ingwiller property, by the mother of the bride to the bride and groom (my 3rd-great-grandparents) exactly one month prior to their 28 Dec 1824 wedding. You'll find the links listed under *Généalogie* in the listing on left. For those of you who'd like to see a fantastic website for both the genealogy and history of a community, browse through this site! With sincere thanks to François Schunk, Cari Thomas PS: you might search the web for similar web pages of other communities by local historians.
