Here I am again asking for more help in translation. So many of you have so gracious in helping me. I have been working on gathering information on my Lehmann family for over 45y. My hubby and I even made a trip to Haguenau and Strasburg a number of years ago when I was much younger, only to find out on returning home that I should have been searching in Schirrhein. So I am so excited in being able to see these records that a lady has been sending me and very grateful for all the help with translation. I, personally take the signatures of clearly literate folk when in doubt and I don't have significant data to suggest otherwise. But spelling of names is a variant thing back in the day. Even today it happens. My daughter has chosen an alternate spelling of her first name in honor of the saint from whom it is based.

Need a little extra help in translations of Witness surnames on the marriage record. I think I have them, but am not sure, especially with the 2nd & 3rd witnesses. I suspected that was the translation, but wasn't 100% sure. The occupation or domicile listed after the "en son vivant" means that's what he did or where he/she lived when he/she was alive. I am confused about what you were told. Didn't we have a different piece of information last year or so that they would be adding more by the end of last year (they didn't). I was waiting for Phalsbourg, nearby Lutzelbourg is on and it is a smaller parish. I have from there by way of the archives online and others, the Carabin family, but need the other ancestral side, Bour (Baur) from Phalsbourg. I was just curious - has anyone on the list read the book, "Viva America : émigration mosellane vers les Etats-Unis au XIXème siècle"?
