    2. Lynda L. Jones
    3. Okay, I just got off the phone with the Family History Library (actually a missionary in their call center). First, they are just wonderful to deal with. Now, to get down to business. Individuals cannot purchase records, BUT organizations can. I suspect that the woman I knew who got the records had someone in an organization get them for her. That sounds like a plan to me. So, the bottom line is that they can be purchased, just not by an individual. To obtain records, an organization would need to contact the FHL Outide Sales: 1-801-240-6124. I'm going to contact my Mormon friends and see if I can purchase it, use it at home and donate it to our local FHC. Best wishes, Lynda Jones Bloomsburg, PA USA _____ . 3. Doris, Do you search your CD's for persons? I am searching for a DANIEL CHRISMAN/CHRISTMAN/CRISMAN born about 1703 in Palatine/Bavaria. I need to know where he is from and parents names. 2. Bob Klenda
    3. Giliane, Thanks you for responding to my posting. I did go to the site you suggested however, since I don't speak or read French, I was unable to get anything out of it...I did get the impression that Serve, as a French name, was far more common then I ever thought of it being. So, my question now is: Is there another link that would give me an English version of the same site? You also say that I need to find additional information about the fellow who served under Napoleon. Outside of his name, that he served under Napoleon in-about 1800, settled in Bavaria Germany, worked as a tailor, married a Margarete Karl and had two children, that is all the information that I have about him. So, I guess at this point I am going to need someone to point me in a direction as to where I might find this additional information. At least I sure hope there is someone out there who would be willing to point me. 3. Thanks, Valorie. I've been through the general archiver search, but it returned too many results. I scanned the "browse" feature in the A-L archives, but the message doesn't appear to be in there. The subject line was something like "Stop sending me these e-mails!" and it was sent to the group and to me. I can understand your not putting it in the archives, but what do you do with messages you don't include? Do you keep a file of them or do you simply delete them? I'm hoping I can get her e-mail address if she is a Hotmail or Comcast user and ask her to remove me from the spam list. I'll use a library computer to contact her. I certainly can't fix this myself. Here's the message I get from all MSN and Hotmail users: host mx1.hotmail.com [65.54.244.8]: 550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems. Email/network admins, please visit http://postmaster.live.com for email delivery information and support This started immediately after that woman posted her message. I'm not active on other lists. I figured she was a newbie, didn't understand how the lists work and that the administrator would take care of it. So, I deleted her e-mail. I know it came at the time in December or January when the list was very active - around the time we were talking about "peanut gallery," etc. Is there a way of preventing this from happening in the future? I enjoy being contacted off list by members, but it isn't worth my losing the ability to communicate with family and friends. 1. Re: [A-L] Browse the ALSACE-LORRAINE archives doesn't work

    3. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Lynda. The link I have on that page is out-dated; the correct URL is http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/ALSACE-LORRAINE/ I'll go fix it right now! As for the second part of your question, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com , and use the advanced search. You can specify which list, which time period, poster's email address, etc. You can narrow your searches quite specifically. For more about how to use the Advanced Search, click the Search tips link. 3. I am so glad to hear that my post was of some help to you in your search for your ancestors! I have been searching for years in the Cincinnati area to find further information on my great-grandfather and his trotter horse?....."Proteine"........ The email below pertains to finding obituaries in the newspapers.....just for the heck of it, I clicked on the "Fulton County" link and searched for g-grandfather's name, because his only son went?from Cincinnati to?New York about 1910..............what came up were newspaper articles on the races his horse was in, in Utica, Rochester, Buffalo, etc....................and here I had been searching for that in the Kentucky/Ohio/Illinois race track areas!?? He had been in the New York area racing the horse.? I learned anew to take a few minutes and check out the links....and want to thank the listers for this email chain ........ -----Original Message----- From: Linda H.
