    2. That information is not correct. All the records are not online. Still for Haut-Rhin, you could add a generation or two. The civil records post Revolution are online. The remainder you can order from the Family History Library. It can take some skill to read the records, but it's a good skill to learn. If you never learn how to read a document how will you know if a researcher is giving you the correct information? Bas-Rhin does indeed has most online, but they are still putting up more stuff. If you are searching in Bas-Rhin you are very fortunate, as a wealth of data is online. Using the online records to go back one more generation will be a good trial and way to get your feet wet. 3. Hello Paul If the records you seek were prior to 1900 why not try and go it alone. All of the records are online. For northern Alsace known as Bas-Rhin the records can be accesses at http://etat-civil.bas-rhin.fr/adeloch/index.php And for southern Alsace or Haut-Rhin http://www.archives.cg68.fr/Services_Actes_Civils.aspx . You will need to know the Commune(town) and learn some basic terms. If you enjoy learning about your past it can be quite rewarding. I'd recommend trying to contact the person who has posted his tree and seek contact information there. Roger may be very glad to hear from you if you can track him down. 1. [A-L] Roger LeGrand
    2. I've been trying to reconnect with my cousin Roger LeGrand. That is not the name he used at the time of our connecting, but rather "Jean". He gave my Alsatian research a huge boost, when he sent me a copy of his tree and a few scans of his research. His site has been gone for a long time and his email stopped working long ago. He's done considerable research in his Alsatian, and otherwise ancestry. His gedcom gave me many names to trace out and fill in. Which I have mostly done over the years. He's the closest cousin (relatively speaking), I'm ever likely to find in Europe (except for his mother, if she's still alive). And I'd like to share back the results of my research as well. No trace of him, but someone else appears to have acquired his tree and has it posted in a private space online. Does anyone know him? Or how to contact him? He seems to have just picked up and left the Internet. Thanks, Brian

Immigration Hi Everyone: I am trying to find where/when a Jean Paul Wetzel and his wife Madeleine Kolb may have immigrated to the USA. It is believed they came before 1894. The information given to me is conflicting. Some have Jean Paul dying in Alsace in 1934. Others have him dying in USA at 1934. There is a USA census record that states John Wetzel and his wife Madeleine and their children. It states he came in 1870 to Pennsylvania. The problem is we cannot deciper whether it is the same Jean Paul Wetzel and wife Madeleine or another Jean Paul with a wife Madeleine. Any help you may be able to give me or suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you so much. 2. Sorry Narda: Hochstatt is the village. I worked in this village yesterday for a very long time and was very successful with the information I was able to obtain. This group has helped me to learn more of how to read the important parts of these records. Thanks for all your help. Walk in peace, Linn I have been doing a lot of research with the Haut-Rhine Records on Alsace. I have been able to deciper enough of many records to understand who/where/parents and etc. Try as I may the very early birth records of 4 people I cannot make out. I have been able to see on births, 1793-1815 on pg 151 there are 4 references to Schlienger's. Only when I go back to the pages 128, 134, 135, 143 I cannot make out the writing enough to get important names/dates/parents. Would some one be so kind as to help me with these? Which village are you doing? Narda
