    1. [A-L] tombstone
    2. Can someone tell me, what is the general condition of tombstones in Baldenheim, Muttersholz, Sundhausen and Boofzheim? My relatives' graves in those villages (if they are even still visible) are from before 1840. Thanks for any insight. best, Paul

    3. If anyone is researching the surnames in the villages listed below and would like a photo of that tombstone please e-mail me with the family name. Some monuments are dated late 18th or early 19th century while others have a 19th century date but the person was born in the 18th or early 19th century. I’ve come across few old tombstones in the villages visited and of those many have been eroded and unreadable. I also have photos of many 19th century headstones and if you are looking for a specific family in one of these villages I’ll take a look. Benfeld – GEORGER & KOPP; GEORGER; MARANDE; ROHMER; BLUMSTEIN; MERTIAN; STACKLER (3 monuments). Ebersmunster – HURSTEL (5 monuments); LORBER & MULLER; LOHNER (poor). 3. HI Listers, Robert Behra kindly shared: >The best single place to start is >http://fr.geneawiki.com/index.php/Archives_en_ligne for finding current status and links to French Archives online. Here are two more options, both of which present maps of France, with hot-linked départements, for those of us who do better at visualizations: http://geneinfos.typepad.fr/geneinfos/nouvelle_carte.html http://www.francegenweb.org/~archives/archivesgenweb/?id=carte The geneinfos website map, is hot-linked directly to the online archive! The francegenweb map will take you to a listing of that département's archives, and the progress they're making. DOUG: For Bas-Rhin archives, I just remember the database name ADELOCH; that, plus Bas-Rhin, in a google search will give me the entry page, no matter where I am or what computer I'm using. . 3. Re: Das krumme Elsass DVD question and cautionHi Carolyn, I have the two CDs "Das krumme Elsaß", but no the DVD. The CDs contain scans of the originals (a complete set of Gerhard HEIN's booklets are available at the Archives Départementales in Strasbourg). To read the CDs it is necessary to use a reader of PDF documents, like Adobe Reader. The greatest reason to find errors in the booklets/CD/DVD is due to Gerhard HEIN himself who has made certainly errors of reading the original records. I have found such errors in Gerhard HEIN's transcriptions. As an amateur genealogist don't forget: l'erreur est humaine = to err is human = errare humanum est! Or have they transcribed [adding the possibility of additional transcription error] the book, creating a completely new version of the original?
