To all, This past Wednesday, November 1st, I mailed out 151 books -- the present publication of the Pike County Historical & Genealogical Society -- to all members, that is, to all people who paid dues for 2000. I hope all members have received the publications by now. This publication was the third and final publication of abstracts of the General Estates books of the Pike County Probate Office, covering the period 1823 - 1880 approximately. Although each of the three publications of abstracts has names in alphabetical order, we hope to produce a complete index next year for all three publications, giving all names, including those of slaves and families to whom they belonged. The index is definitely needed, as sometimes pertinent information about a person may be found in the estate settlement of a distant relative or someone not even related.
