Noah STALLINGS, probably born late 1860's early 1870's around Pickens County, AL. J. Noah STALLINGS married Dixie Edna WIER between 1889 and 1897. They lived in Burnett Co, TX; Limestone Co., TX; Ada , Oklahoma and Chaves County, NM from 1898-1925. J. Noah was butcher/business man and part time farmer. During depression years he returned to Austin, Travis Co. TX to find work. In 1934 he was shot in the back by some street brawlers. He was buried there. His body was never moved back to NM. No record of him before 1905 in NM Territory. He had land in Chaves County, Dexter, NM. He and wife, Dixie, had five or more children between 1899 and 1911. Only two daughters lived into adulthood. Had at least one brother, possibly named Joseph STALLINGS who moved to Colorado (Colorado Springs or Denver area) that began west with J. Noah. J may indicate first name of John or Josaih. Dixie STALLINGS d. 1963; Ruby STALLINGS-STEGER-PRICHARD B. 1905 D. 1984; Jewel STALLINGS-LEE-EVANS b. 1910 d. 1964; other children died as infants or small children. Dixie has one nephew still living in Lea Co., NM. Has no information on STALLINGS families. Other descendants, still living are one granddaughter and two great granddaughters in Chaves co., NM; one great grandson in Austin, TX. To date have not been able to locate any information your assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have written to TX state, cemeteries, etc. and have not been able to locate record of my great grandfather, J. Noah STALLINGS. Any help/leads you might have would be appreciated.
