Your William Spivey and Viney Fowler were not the first Fowler and Spivey marriages. The family was related back in Columbus County, N. C. Your William was the son of William Spivey and Amanda White Spivey, who was the son of William Spivey, Jr. and Keziah, who was the son of William Spivey, Sr., b. ca 1759, Sampson County, N. C., moved to Columbus County, N. C. and migrated to Pike County, Ala before 1835. William Spivey, Sr.'s father was Matthew James Spivey, b. ca 1740. William Spivey's brother, Edmund Spivey, married Elizabeth Fowler, dau of Daniel Fowler of Columbus County, N. C. Daniel's brother was John Fowler, who migrated to PIke County, Ala in his nineties. The Rushing family married into the family of Caleb Spivey and Dorothy Morrison. Caleb was the son of Curtis Spivey and Lucy Cartrette (Carteret, Cartwright), dau of Claudius Carteret and Ruth or Sarah Ward of Columbus County, N. C. Curtis was the son of the above William Spivey, Sr.
