Are any of the Pike County cemetery records on-line? Many of our Louisiana cemeteries are available, but I haven't found any for Pike Co. I am especially interested in the China Grove area. Does anyone know if there is still such a community today? My grandparents (Sessions and Weldons) lived there before the war and the death of my grandfather, who died during the seige of Vicksburg. If anyone has any information on the availability of this type of Alabama data, please let me know. Karen Palermo

Pike County is one of the few counties in Alabama that has complete published records of all marked graves in the County. Unfortunately this only encompasses those cemeteries which are predominantly Caucasian. The two volumes of the tomb records are available from the Pike County Historical and Genealogical Society. A complete listing of all of their publications is at the Website's URL which is in my signature block below. If you are a serious researcher of former residents of Pike County, Alabama, the census, marriage, court, tomb, etc. records are invaluable. Anyone needing lookups should make their needs known and some kind soul will probably do a few lookups for you. Provide all the information that you can on the individual - complete name and dates of birth and death, if possible. I don't mind doing a lookup, but I personally don't have time to go through 30 or 40 SESSIONS trying to second-guess the one that you want. WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
