Sorry about that other message that was sent accidentally. Anyhow, can anyone tell me who was so famous or prominent in early northern Pike County (formerly part of Montgomery Co.) with the Hilliard name? My Barnett ancestors in northern Pike county used it as the second name for many sons (beginning about 1820s continuing to 1860s), but never the first name that I know of. The practice was continued by Barnetts who moved to Texas in 1850s and later. Am not aware of any family connection, marriage or otherwise, to anyone of that name, so am wondering why such an obvious regard for one or more persons of that name. My Barnetts came from SC to Montgomery Co/Pike Co. about 1815. Could the connection extend back to SC? Would appreciate any info from you folks more familiar with Pike County. Thanks in advance!
