I am researching my great great grandfather and his wife: Peter B ALSTON & Susanna (CROSBY) ALSTON. Peter's father was George W. ALSTON, married to Elizabeth (SANDERS) ALSTON in Muscogee, GA 1842. Sometime during the 1850s they moved to Chambers AL, then probably moved to Pike county. When they were in Muscogee, Elizabeth's widowed father William Henry SANDERS lived next door along with a son Madison (age 32 and wife Penelope). I know that George and Elizabeth moved to Smith, TX sometime in mid 1870s. Also know that Henry SANDERS died in an area known as China Grove, Pike county, AL circa 1872. I have lost tract of Peter B. Alston after he was released to return home after the War Between the States. Because Henry SANDERS was Peter ALSTON's maternal grandfather, and because these Alstons and Sanders folks seemed to migrate together, I believe there is as a high probability that they would show up on an 1870 census. If anyone who has an 1870 census would be so kind to check for my Alstons, I'd be much oblliged. Karon. (dura7mater@aol.com)
