I'm researching this family for a friend of mine. Her gg grandfather was Wade Hampton Adams, born 2/12/1821 in South Carolina-died 1/5/1895 in Geneva Co., Alabama. The family lore is that Wade and his brother ran away from home when Wade was 16 and they landed in Troy. Wade became the Chief of Police there, but I do not know when that occurred. That is one of my questions. Wade and his family are in the 1860 Pike County Census, the 1870 Pike County Census, and the 1880 Covington County Census. I'm trying to find as many descendants of this family for my friend as possible. I've already talked to several people and they have been of great help. It has been a while since I've posted here, so I thought I would re-post. New information is that Wade became the Chief of Police. I cannot find any lists anywhere of the Chiefs in Pike County. Anyone have any suggestions? If this family is familiar to anyone, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Melissa Parker
