Hello everyone, I'm new to the list. I have a question. I have an ancestor that was born in Pike County, AL in 1871. How far back did Pike County keep birth records and can they be located at the Pike County Courthouse? My line from Pike County: ggrandfather: Luther Monroe Ammons m. Ethel Lula Ammons Hamilton Houston Stewart m. Alice Elizabeth Bell Richard Madison Stewart m. Isabella Hamilton Thank you, Angela Harrell __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Birth certificates didn't come along until about 1914. However, some people, as my grandparents did in the 1940s went and had them done. They were borne in the 1880s. They just had to have someone verify their birth. You may be in luck and find it. I checked in Montgomery. I hear now that the Health Dept in each county has them. Hope you find what you are looking for. MaryMargaret Angela Harrell <[email protected]> wrote: Hello everyone, I'm new to the list. I have a question.
