Dorothy, I am so sorry to hear of your illness. I will be praying for you. You have nothing to be sorry for. Under the circumstances, I think you have gone beyond the call of duty. Many of the Heritage books, from both GA and AL are late coming out. I think this venture turned out to be bigger than anticipated, and the workers have just been overwhelmed. Everyone wants to do a good job, and I think that might be why things are going past the deadlines. When they do come, I am sure they will be worth the wait. You take care of yourself and God Bless you. I did manage to get to the library to see the blueline copy of the book a couple weeks ago but was promptly and repeately told by the chairman to leave, to go home, that I was not wanted, etc. (She left instead and carried the book with her). A few days earlier I had seen her in a local grocery store and she had been quite friendly, so I am at a loss yet to understand her behavior but do know that was the second completely unprovoked verbal attack she had made against me in recent months. > The chairman had been telling people we would get the books before Christmas, whereas I and one or two others were telling people we hoped we would get them before Christmas but didn't know for certain. I've been told that she had just learned, before her last verbal attack against me, that the books wouldn't arrive until after Christmas. > I'm not kept informed about the books anymore but have heard that they will arrive very soon -- this week, perhaps. > I'm sorry that so many people have been left wondering about the books for so long, and I'm particularly sorry that the Troy Public Library has suffered so much because of the books. The library allowed us space to hold the Heritage Book meetings, to accumulate material for the books, to store all the material, to do all the proofreading, and now will house the books when they arrive. They've been very good to all of us involved in work on the book, so it's very unfortunate that they've caught so much heat from people wanting to know why they haven't already received their books, etc. > The Pike County Heritage Book, from what I saw of it in the final proofing, will be well worth everyone's wait. It is certainly not perfect but is great nonetheless and I'm sure nothing of its kind will ever be produced again. > As soon as I learn something else about the books, I will try to inform everyone -- or will ask someone else to do it. My guess is that the books will arrive and start being distributed this week or next. > Again, my apology for not keeping everyone up to date, but I've done the best I could do under the circumstances. May God bless you all. > Dorothy Ann Folmar > > >
