    1. Re: [AL-PIKE] James T. Kelly, 15th Alabama Infantry

    3. THis is from Bill Peebles Le Le, I contacted Charlton Pingel and sent her the information I had about James Thomas Kelley and Amelia Louise Oates. She checked the 1870 census and found that they were listed next to her parents in Pike County, AL. I now have no doubt that they were in DeSoto Parish, LA in 1860, and in Cherokee County, TX in 1880. They apparently didn't remain in LA very long, because none of their children were born in LA. Since James was still living in 1870, he could not have been the J. Thomas Kelly who died in the Civil War. Since Amelia L. Kelley who is buried in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Polk County, TX and Amelia Louise Oates were both born on the same date and both died on the same date, and the husband of both was named James T. Kelley, I feel that they must be the same person. I have attached an updated family group sheet with the names of their children from the three census records.
