Caroline Speaks (mother) was born about 1810 in South Carolina. She had 3 girls according to what I have been able to uncover. They were: Lucinda (b. Oct 1834, Pike Co), Penniah (b. 15 Mar 1839, Pike Co) and Sophronia (b. July 1840/41, Pike Co). According to the information I have, Lucinda never married. Penniah married Stephen Gardner and had 2 sons (James Henry and Stephen Richard). Stephen Gardner was killed in the war. Sophronia married Toler Pippin (my gg-grandfather).
