Hi Mary Margaret, I will not be able to help you much but I can refer you to someone who knows the history of the Folmar Family and the Elam Church. I met her many years ago while visiting in Pike Co. Al. She will have a history of the church. Really she has more info than you can digest. Kathlyn Folmar catstrack@pghmail.com. She and her daughter; Joyce are really good genealogist & historians. Here is a copy of an e-mail I got on the Pike Co. Al. rootsweb site May 10, 2007 from Kathlyn & Joyce. A baby was born recently, and addition to the Folmar clan, who was named Mary Margaret. And that's just what they plan to call her. Elijah Wyatt was an early preacher at Elam Primitive Baptist Church and we have long thought that one of Wyatt's three daughters, Elizabeth, was the second wife of John Nicholas Folmar. We think think Elizabeth was probably married first to a Jeffcoat, and is referred to as Elizabeth Jeffcoat. She and John Nicholas Folmar had a son, Daniel, who died during the Civil War. He did not marry nor have children. We never found proof that Elizabeth was the daughter of Elijah Wyatt though we believe it. A Wyatt man, wife and daughter visited Elam Church a few years back. He grew sugar cane in La. I think he said he was descended from Elijah. I have his address somewhere. Elam Baptist Church is in Goshen, Al. I have visited the church and Cem. I hope this will be of help to you. And I agree the double name does become very long when sighing papers. I have always used Mary Ann. My Mother always said that if she had not wanted me called Mary Ann she would not have named me that. Hope to hear from you again. Regards, Mary Ann MaryMargaret Quinn <jassminecottage@yahoo.com> wrote: Note: forwarded message attached. I hope I am not opening another can of worms. I have sent this census along for everyone to see. I have always thought Elizabeth was a daughter of William C. Wyatt. As you can see Elizabeth is listed here as a Folmar.Born in Ga. I don't think all of the info is correct because it shows Mariam being borne in AL. I know her father had extensive holdings in Autauga County and it is possible but I have the marriage certificate for she and William from GA. If you will see too, it shows William C as 34. It should be 54, borne 1796. Marian was borne 1797 After this mail, I am going to try to send a photo of their headstone. Mary Ann, who do you show as parents of Elijah Soloman? I don't have any info in front of me but there is an Elijah Wyatt with his wife buried at Broadmouth Baptist Church cemetery in Donalds. SC. Lots of speculation as to him being the father of our Elijah who founded Elam Baptist. That Elijah is the son of William Wyatt from VA who fought in the Revolution. The 2 Elijahs would have been contemporaries. Close to same dates. That Elijah also did not have a son named Elijah. I have the original Wyatt Family Reunion pamphlet with lots of info on that Elijah. This whole thing has puzzled so many for so many years. I would love to learn what's what. Everything I have is documented. Which isn't a whole heck of alot. I will dig out my info. Please keep sending things that will make me think and dig. I just got off track because I couldn't find anything new. I live in Spartanburg,SC. Not terribly far from Donalds. Have been down several times, looking to see what I can see. I have never gotten to go into the church, which is large and so is the cemetery but I would love to and check if the have a church history. I used to be so ashamed of my name. MaryMargaret. There were so many Marys around tho- I decided to use the whole thing. Plus, when I was a teenager if someone called to speak to me and ask for Mary my daddy would tell them there was no Mary that lived there. Kind of made me use it. It gets long when signing papers. I am open to any ideas and would love to hear from y'all. I would love to solve this. I need to figure out who the parents were of the Elijah who founded Elam, not Goshen, Primitive Baptist Church. Sorry for such length.
