    1. Re: [ALPIKE] McDaniel, McDonald surnames
    2. Tonia, I am looking for any info on my g-grandfather James Havington (Havie/Havey) McDaniel. According to family tradition he was born in Pike County. On the 1900 census he is shown as a farm hand and boarder at Dannelly's Crossroads in Coffee County, born in Feb. 1878 in AL. He had a sister, Daisy, 2 years younger, who was also a farm hand on another farm in the same area. Do you have anyone who might fit them in your McDaniel line? Their father was Adoniram Judson McDaniel but I have no idea who the mother was. Family tradition, again, says she was Indian. I am missing any info on their father between 1870 and 1900, which of course is the time I need most. Sherry Bowers

    3. Hello! I don't have your ggrandfather in my database, but that doesn't mean anything. I have had a very hard time researching this line because the surname spellings vary so much. I'll keep looking and keep you posted.
