    3. I don't have the answers to your questions since I don't live in Pike Co. But, I have just ordered a V.A. stone to be set in Seattle for one of my husband's relatives. They are going to send the stone directly to the cemetery and the cemetery is charging a fee for the concrete to set it and perpetual care. So I would check with the cemetery (once you find out how) and see if they won't take care of all the arrangements. They will have to sign off on the V.A. form that they will accept the stone. I'm also working with a group to provide a ceremony. If they can't do it at the time it is set they will do so on a military holiday at a later date. Leslie

    3. I need help with some contacts in Pike Co in order to have a stone set for my ancestor who was in the War of 1812. The stone will need to be shipped to a monument business so I need the address for one in the area. They will have to get permission from someone who cares for the cemetery and I need a name and address for that contact. My ancestor was Littleton Seale who died in 1850 in Pike Co and willed that he be buried at Mt Pleasant Baptist Cemetery. He never had a stone and now all evidence of graves in the oldest part is gone. Can anyone direct me to either or both of these contacts? I am also working on proving that this ancestor was a citizen of the Republic of Texas before returning to Pike Co. 1. [ALPIKE] Deborah Lynn Sims, Goshen, child of Clyde Sims
    2. Doug & Joyce Severt
    3. I came across this obituary and would like to ask if anyone has any additional information about this family. I believe that Clyde Sims, father of Deborah Lynn Sims, is a child of James Irving Sims and Willie Etta Catrett. Willie Etta was a child of Jesse Henry Catrett, Jr. and Nancy Anne Fowler. I "believe" that Willie Etta Catrett and James Irving Sims lived in Pike County, but I haven't been able to locate a marriage record for them. James Henry Sims and Mary Elizabeth Hines were the parents of James Irving and they also lived in Pike County, Alabama. James Sims died 05 October 1955 in Pike County, Alabama and is buried at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Pike County, Alabama. After James Sims died, Willie Etta married Q. V. Catrett on 05 December 1957 in Andalusia, Covington County, Alabama. They were married by W. B. Henderson, Justice of the Peace on 5 December 1957. Willie Etta apparently couldn't write as she signed in the name space with an "X". There are two witnesses names on the license but I don't know if it was to witness that she made her mark or if they were the witnesses at the marriage. They are Enda R. Jones and Clara Forsyth. Enda R. Jones was also the notary public signing on the license. Willie Etta (Willie Etter) Catrett Sims lived in Brantley, Alabama when she and Q. V. Catrett married. If anyone can offer me any additional insight on the people listed here, I would be most appreciative. Sincerely, Joyce Sims Severt Troy Messenger 10-15-1962 Deborah Sims GOSHEN----Deborah Lynn Sims, 3 died in Montgomery hospital Saturday. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm from the Bethel Baptist Church, Goshen. Burial was in the Luverne Cemetery, Turner Funeral Home directing. Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sims: a brother, Jimmy Sims, Goshen: grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Perry King, Luverne and Mr. and Mrs. Q. V. Catrett, Brantley.

    1. Re: [ALPIKE] McDaniel, McDonald surnames
    2. Doug & Joyce Severt
    3. Regarding McDaniel's. Perhaps this might fit with your McDaniel's. 1) Agnes Gray married a James Mc Daniel. (From: Cumberland Chronicles, Sep 1995 [Newsletter of The Cumberland County Genealogical Society] Abstracts from minutes of Fayetteville Equity, Sumter Dist. 1795-1869; Equity roll 504 co state of North Carolina, Cumberland County, depositions taken 19 September 1832, by McRa[e], Duncan, Kelly, John & Jonathan Evans.... Copy on file explaining family relationships.) In 1769, William & Margaret Gray Sims were living in Craven County, SC. They sold land in Gray's Creek to James McDaniel, Agnes Gray's spouse. So, the 40 years in SC seems to be valid. It is very possible that all their children were born in SC. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Bowtssl@aol.com> To: <alpike@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 12:59 AM Subject: Re: [ALPIKE] McDaniel, McDonald surnames > Tonia, > I am looking for any info on my g-grandfather James Havington > (Havie/Havey) > McDaniel. 3. Kathlyn, I would love to know when Alexander and Martha McDougald died and where they were buried. Alexander probably died between 1850 and 1860 since he did not appear in the 1860 census. Martha was first missed in the 1880 census. Also I would like to know where in Pike County they lived. Alexander was Justice of the Peace in Pike County in 1836. Many years I corresponded with Kitty Folmer about the McDougalds. Are you Kitty? You gave me some really good clues before we took a trip from Texas to your Alabama for some research.
