I did the 1866 Index for the society and now I have the complete census ready for sale. Anyone interested should contact me at sksenn@p-c-net.net. It is like the 1830 and 40 census, head of household and all others by age and sex. It also lists number of soldiers dead from battle or sickness and those disabled from each household.

I dont know if my Brown and Fowler Familys had traveled from Alabama to Texas and into Oklahoma with the rest of my family or not, but would like to know more about your Browns and Fowlers. My Findley,Golden had come to Texas and into Oklahoma, so the others may well have done so too. All I know of mine is this: Elvira BROWN born January 12,1872 Texas and died November 29,1945 Ardmore,Oklahoma. She married Rabourn ELLIOTT born 1869 Texas. The ELLIOTT family had come from N Carolina and Virginia to Texas and Oklahoma. Rabourn ELLIOTT died 1904-1905 in Cooke Co Texas Elvira is buried in Marietta,Love Co Oklahoma and Rabourn is buried in Burneyville,Oklahoma. I am looking for the family of Elvira BROWN. The only thing I know that her parents were Dave Mark BROWN and Mary FOWLER and that is why I would like to know of your family and where they may have migrated to from Alabama. We have heard that Dave and Mary were killed by the Indians in Texas but do not know of her sisters and brothers if any. We do know the family of our Elvira and Rabourns children etc. They were my Great Grand parents. I had just placed an ad on this same County in regards to another lady that had the FINDLEY (FINLEY) name. I would appreciate your response thanks Jackie jacis54@webtv.net

    3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1542 Surname: Findley, Golden, Hilton, Elliott, Henry ------------------------- Valerie, I m sorry I dont know your Dorothy FINLEY, but had to notice the FINLEY name as you just dont see it very often een on the Pike County Mailing list. My family FINDLEY (FINLEY) are from the Pike,Simpson,County areas and just thought you might be related in some way way back. These FINLEYS of yours are of the newer generation. Im talking like back to 1800 with Henry GOLDEN and 1780 with Richard FINDLEY (FINLEY). They both would of been my GGG Grand parents. I wont go into alot of detail but if you think you may know or connect to my family, I will give you the rest of theyre names and dates. The Findley married the Golden and moved to Texas and into Oklahoma, Love County and into Hinton,Oklahoma. Some of the Finleys stayed in Texas. My Great Grandmother was Malinda Jane FINDLEY (FINLEY) and she lived in Marietta,Love County,Oklahoma after coming from Texas in about 1890 and died there, and my GG Findley that married the Golden was in Hinton Oklahoma till they died, the last in 1916. Would like to get with you and see if you know any of my family or me yours. My Richard Findley and Henry Golden and a family of Murphey, Conner, and Gillmore were on the 1850 Pike County Census. Elizbeth had been married three times and on the census was to my Henry Golden. Her Maiden name was Murphy. Just a thought and will be looking forward to hearing from you. 3. By way of reintroducing myself, does anyone recognize the Wm. and Sarah McDonald/McDaniel family ... who migrated from SC to Talbot Co., GA, Walton Co. GA, and onto Chambers Co, AL, Pike County, AL, and to Montgomery County, I am listing the census data covering two counties in GA and 3 in AL: 1840 Talbot County, GA Census Head of Household Ages of Males Ages of Females 0-5 6-10 11-15 16-20 41-45 11-15 41-45 William McDaniel 2 2 1 2 1 1 1 Sarah would have been 43, John 20, William 17, Sarah 13, Hiram 12, Ervin 8, Elijah 6, Elisha 2, James 1 This William Head of Household also held 11 slaves. This family matches the Sarah McDaniel family for ages in 1840 compared with ages in 1850. (?) Highly likely this is the same family. William McDaniel must have died between 1840 and 1850. His death could have been after the birth of Mary M. or just prior to her birth in 1841 Sarah McDaniel and family listed on the 1850 chambers County Census. The family members were: 1850 Census Chambers County, Alabama Name Place of Birth Age Other Information Sarah McDaniel NC 54 Sarah SC 23 Hiram SC 22 Ervin SC 22 Elijah GA 16 Elisha GA 12 James M. GA 11 Mary AL 9 Caroline Not Given 20 Wife of Hiram Note: Marriage bond for Hiram and Caroline found. William McDaniel was second bondsman. Eiljah McDonald and family are listed in the 1860 Census for Pike County, Monticello Township, Alabama. Also listed in Pike County, Monticello Township, Alabama is Sarah McDonald and family and William McDonald as follows. 1860 Census Pike County, Monticello Township, Alabama Name Place of Birth Age Other Information Sarah McDonald SC 63 John SC 40 Sarah SC 33 Elisha GA 23 James GA 20 Mary M. GA 18 Sarah A. Al 15 Nancy Al 12 WM J. AL 11 Note the names and ages for Sarah McDonald, ad of household, Sarah, Elisha, James and Mary between the two census. It would appear that this is Elijah's family. I suspect that John is the eldest child and that Sarah A., Nancy and WM. J. are his children. 1860 Census Pike County, Monticello Township, Alabama Name Place of Birth Age Other Information Wm. McDonald SC 36 Cynthia GA 36 Celia M. AL 13 General J. AL 12 Isham J. AL 9 WM. J. AL 5 Mary F. AL 2 Sarah AL 15 Edward(?) Smith GA 23 Farm Laborer 1866 Pike County Census Head of Household Ages of Males Ages of Females > 0-10 10-20 30-40 0-10 10-20 20-30 30-40 Caroline McDaniel 1 3 3 1 1 1 Could be Hiram's wife: She would be 36 years of age. Had been married 16 years. Kind regards, Cynthia Forde

    3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1538 Surname: FINLEY, WILLIAMS ------------------------- I am seeking information on Dorothy Finley, who married Edwin Saunders Williams around 1938-1940. I have been told that she was from Goshen, AL (Pike County). My Uncle, Captain Edwin S. Williams, was killed in WWII and was brought back to AL for burial. I *believe* he was buried in a cemetary in Goshen; I have been unable to find more information. I do not know if Dorothy remarried or not. If any of this is familiar, please contact me. Oh, Edwin Williams also managed two movie theatres in Alabama in the 1930's, before he enlisted. I think Dorothy's father's name was FRED FINLEY. I would like to learn more about her family. Glad to share info. Link: My Alabama Genealogy URL: <http://www.geocities.com/alabamagenealogy>
