I think I e-mailed you privately that they went to Walton Co., FL. about 1870. Story handed down was one of the boys got into a fight, thought he killed a man, took his brothers and lite out for FL. On the way Stephen took sick and died. None of this can be verified; but that is what was handed down. Again I really appreciate your help and any help anyone can give me to help solve my puzzle. K 13th Inf 3rd BN 8th Div 1st Army. Gave his life for the cause of Libery." That is from Pike County Alabama Tomb Records, sponsored by the Pike Co. Historical Society, 10-26-1972. Dorothy did remarry to a Collins. She died a year or so ago and I think is buried in the same cemetery as above. She has a daughter, Belinda Collins, who lives in Goshen and is married to Mike Edwards. Kathlyn J. Folmar Pike Co., AL

    3. Hello to the person offering to do look ups in the 1866 census: I am trying to determine when this family left Pike Co. They are in the 1860 Pike Co. Federal Census but not the 1870. Family legend is that Richard died sometime between 1860-1870 and Mary (Polly) Thomas and children moved to Franklin Co., FL with her brothers. It is also believed she had more than one daughter (the 3 boys are from a first marriage of Richard to Martha Mercer Compton). Richard Capps, 38, SC Mary, 35, SC William Friendly, 14, AL James Harmon, 12, AL Henry Jackson, 11, AL Emma, 3, AL I found a Sarah Capps and four daughters in the the 1870 Census of Appalachicola, in the County of Franklin, State of Florida Capps, Sarah 44 South Carolina Emma E 15 Alabama Martha J 11 Alabama Mary A 9 Alabama Susan E 8 Alabama Looking for anything that connects these two families. 3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1556 Surname: Davis, Bradshaw, Thomas ------------------------- Researching EDWARD DAVIS, born c.1822-24 in Wayne Co. MS. Married ADELINE (THOMAS) BRADSHAW 24DEC1848 in Pike Co. AL. Marriage records show an ADELINE THOMAS married a DANIEL BRADSHAW six years before in 1842. EDWARD and ADELINE appear on the 1850 census as living next to his brother, THOMAS HAMPTON and wife, MARTHA ANN SHIELDS. Am not certain but believe ADELINE brought first 3 children shown on census into this marriage and they are DANIEL'S children. Children's names and estimated birth years are: ELIZA J., 1842; JOHN HENRY, 1846; SARAH F., 1848; CYNTHIA A., 1852; MARTHA, 1853; CHRISTOPHER, 1854; QUINTON, 1855; WILLIAM, 1857; TEMPY (TEMPERANCE?),1860; and LULA, 1862. All children were believed to be born in Pike Co. ADELINE DAVIS is shown as head of the household on 1870 census so presumably EDWARD is deceased. Don't know if he served in the Civil War but would have been a good age to have done so. Would appreciate hearing from anyone on this. Any suggestions are welcome on tracing this family using the above data as this is all I have to work with.
