    1. [ALPIKE] Pike Co. GILMOREs
    2. Michelle Taunton
    3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Al/Pike/1580 Surname: Gilmore, Taunton ------------------------- This Hugh Gilmore Sr. was the son of Stephen Gilmore and (--) Taunton, daughter of Nathan Taunton (b. before 1775) of Wilkinson/Crawford Co., GA. Stephen Gilmore died in 1827 in Crawford Co., GA, and Hugh, Archibald, and Nathaniel Gilmore first were placed under the guardianship of their maternal grandfather, Nathan Taunton. Nathan died in Crawford Co., GA in 1829, and his son Henry Taunton (the Gilmore children's uncle) was then named the children's guardian in Crawford Co., GA. It's interesting that the Pike Co., AL estate books show that George Gilmore was named the children's guardian there in 1831, since back in Crawford Co., GA, Henry Taunton was still conducting business on their behalf as late as Sept. 1832. I'd love to hear from anyone descended from these Gilmores, as I have quite a bit of info on their Taunton ancestors. 3. My husband is a descendant of Nathan Minshew I through his son Nathan II b 1771 in Dobbs Co NC; d 1845 in Houston Co GA. His son Nathaniel Minshew III was b 1803 in Wayne Co NC & d 1860 in Barbour Co AL; married Elizabeth King his 2nd marriage. Their daughter Martha Ann Gendrith Minshew b 1836 in Houston Co GA d 1915 at Henderson AL; married Dempsey George Washington Warrick. Surely your Jacob was connected to this family. I think we have a photo portrait of Martha & Dempsey G W Warrick. It was their children who moved to Camp Co TX in 1900 from Pike Co. Some of their children, including my husband's line, married Vickers and all moved together.
