    3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Al/Pike/1608 Surname: Tidwell ------------------------- Wynnette, Thank you so much for responding to my request. My GGrandfather was born in AL about 1850. His name as I have it was Joseph Tidwell. He had two brothers and the story goes that my Grandfather was named after them. His name was Joseph Franklin Jefferson Tidwell. He was born in Panola County, TX, on 1 Dec 1877, d. 30 Jun 1977. I am trying to find information on his parents and his brothers. I was told his Father was born in Pike County, AL, but don't know that for sure. If you can make any connection it would be wonderful. My information is that the two brothers left AL heading west and my GGrandfather left when he was a young man looking for them. I have information of his marriage in 1868 to Sarah Ritter in Panola County, TX, so he must have left AL when he was 16 or 17. Thanks for your help! Trudy Vardeman

    3. Dorothy: When do the PCH&GS dues normally come due and also, what years are covered in the 1rst & 2nd Estate books published by the PCH&CS? Thanks, Lynda ---------- > From: Dorothy Ann Folmar <orion2@mindspring.com> > To: ALPIKE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ALPIKE] New PCH&GS publication > Date: Sunday, October 01, 2000 6:39 AM > > Hi, > The next "bulletin" or book of the Pike Co. Hist. & Gen. Society will, hopefully, be published this month, October, and mailed out early in November. It will go out free of charge to all current members of the PCH&GS. > This book consists of abstracts of General Estates Records from the Probate Office of the Pike County Courthouse covering the period 1823 to 1880 approximately. There are a few records extending to 1900. There are 25 of the General Estates books in the courthouse and we published a 1st book of abstracts, of Books 1-12, & a 2nd book of abstracts, of Books 13-19, both in 1998, and now we're publishing the final book of abstracts, of Books 20-25. These 3 books of abstracts are loaded with genealogical information. They name heirs of deceased people, give section, township and range info about their real estate, and give names and any other info available about their slaves. Sometimes there are two or three lists of heirs, as sometimes it took several years for an estate to be settled and meanwhile heirs died, moved, had children of their own, etc. > The 1st book of abstracts sells for $25 and the 2nd book for $20. They may be ordered from Karen Bullard, Treasurer of the PCH&GS. Again, the present book will go out free of additional charge to all people who paid the $13 membership dues earlier this year. Anyone wanting to pay dues at this time to receive the present publication might like to contact Karen Bullard at: Karen@publiclibrary.troy.al.us. > I think you would receive only this publication if you pay dues now and would have to pay again next year to receive next year's publications, but, still, you would be getting the book a bit cheaper than if you ordered it later. If you want to mail payment to Karen now, her address is Karen Bullard, 4041 Co. Rd. 59, Troy, AL 36079. > Dorothy Ann Folmar Pike Co., AL
