Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1724 Surname: Siler, Park ------------------------- Looking for my Roling relatives, I visited the Orion Baptist Church and cemetery in Pike Co, last January and because of the age and ornateness of the Siler family plot, I took several photographs of the plot and the cemetery and wrote down as many of the tombstone epitaphs as I could read. Many were broken and others hard to read. If you will contact me personally, I'll make arrangements to send it all to you, if that will be of help to you.
Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1723 Surname: SILER, PARK, MUSGROVE ------------------------- Looking for descendants of Solomon SILER (1788-1854) and Jane Owen Glenn PARK (1809-1866). I believe the only child to live to adulthood and marry was Quintus Cincinnatus Park Siler (1848-1885), who married Minnie Alice Dean. They lived in Orion and are buried in the Orion Baptist Church Cemetery.

To all, I've just learned that one person who received our last Pike County Historical & Genealogical Society publication received the book in good condition but found that the first three pages of print in the book were done over other print -- an amendment (pertaining to the election today, I suppose) and something about a power generator. If anyone else received a book with pages amiss, please let me know. The Copy Center in downtown Montgomery now does our printing for us and has been doing an excellent job. I'm sure they will make good on any mistake they made. Thank you. Dorothy Ann Folmar Pike Co., AL
To all, This past Wednesday, November 1st, I mailed out 151 books -- the present publication of the Pike County Historical & Genealogical Society -- to all members, that is, to all people who paid dues for 2000. I hope all members have received the publications by now. This publication was the third and final publication of abstracts of the General Estates books of the Pike County Probate Office, covering the period 1823 - 1880 approximately. Although each of the three publications of abstracts has names in alphabetical order, we hope to produce a complete index next year for all three publications, giving all names, including those of slaves and families to whom they belonged. The index is definitely needed, as sometimes pertinent information about a person may be found in the estate settlement of a distant relative or someone not even related. Wynnette Tucker Welch wrote: Good morning all, The Crenshaw County, Alabama Heritage Book Committee encourages all of you with ancestors in Crenshaw County to write your family history and encourage your friends to do the same. There is still time to get these histories in the forthcoming Crenshaw County Heritage Book. Wouldn't your descendants enjoy reading about these pioneers who helped make Crenshaw County what it is today? Where they came from, how they made a living, who & when they were married, who their children were, there are many stories to be told about the early days of Crenshaw County when it was a wild and dangerous place to live. Please help make this book a success. We also would like to encourage you to buy a book which will be cheaper now, before it goes to the publishing house. For further information get in touch with Jimmy Gipson at: 2319 Lee Street, Rutledge AL 36071 or call: 334-335-6937 We sure would appreciate your participation in the completion of this book.
