Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1749 Surname: Browning, Gordy ------------------------- Hi. I am interested in the Brownings in Pike Co. and those listed in the l850 census in Marengo Co. Do you know where in GA. your Pike Co. Brownings come from? I'm trying to figure out why my John Allen Gordy (age 12) is in the William and Susan Browning household in l850 Marengo Co. without any parents. One of the Browning children (b. about 1835) was born in Ga according to this census. All the rest of the children were born in Ala so I figure they must have connections to Ga. The Gordy family is primarily in Ga. The Brownings in the 1840 Pike Co census are listed 2 pages down from the Gordy family that I would like to connect John Allen Gordy to, so I would like to know more about them. Can you share any info on Ga. and the Brownings? Are there any ALLENS hiding in your family, per chance? Thanks so much. Louise Gorday MacIntosh

HICKMAN was living with his parents in Dale County, Alabama in 1870. The family was back in Pike County, Alabama for the 1880 Census. The father, John HICKMAN was not on the 1880 Census, it is assumed that he had died. Samuel R. is not on the Pike County, Alabama Census in 1880, I assume that he was in Texas. Polly, I have a considerable amount of information on the HICKMAN family. How much of it do you want? I will gladly send anything that I have; in return, I would like to have anything that you have on the descendants of Samuel R. HICKMAN. Thanks, "Sonny" Wm. Flake Joiner 311 East Church Street P. O. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1737 Surname: WORTHY, McCARRA ------------------------- Would be very interested in exchanging information concerning the PIKE co. WORTHYs. Have a great deal of material on them ,up until 1871, the date of THOMAS WORTHYs death in Pike co.. Questions I have concerns whether Thomas died at the home of his Son, ALFRED NEWTON WORTHY, or at the home of his Daughter, ADELINE McCARRA, married to WILLIAM McCARRA , also a minister of the gospel living in Pike co. Thomas is not buried in the Alfred Newton's cemetery plot at Troy, which leads me to believe he was living with his daughter at the time of his death. Solving this possibly could answer where Thomas is buried

I have just recently gotten back a reply to the SS form I sent off for and have found out Mittie's parents. They are Levi George Jayroe and Laura Howard, just in case someone happens to read this message who is researching the same line of Jayroe's, and wants to know. So, now I have a small start! I'll do my best to find these areas you have pointed out to me. If you hear someone yelling, it's me, stuck!!! Just a little humor!! Thanks again; Beth
Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1727 Surname: ------------------------- Thanks so much for the info. I had the census but not the other. How are you related? These are very distant cousins. Jane Owens Glenn Park Siler was the daughter of John "Littlejohn" Park and Sarah (Sally) Musgrove. It's the Musgrove lines I'm following down. Most of them are buried in the Orion Baptist church cemetery. I think I got the info from a book at the DAR library, since it doesn't seem to be online.
