I am looking for any information on the W R Lathram family (wife:Frances D; sons:Josia & John Riley; daughters:Sarah J, Isabella, & Dora) living in Monticello during the 1860 census. The census says that he was a farmer & that their 5 children were b in Ala. I suspect that W R may be a brother to my gg grfa, so any leads would be appreciated. Also, my g grfa, L P Lathram (wife:Vida M; son:Wade; daughters:Maude, Bertie Mc, & Elizabeth) was in Brundidge in 1900. He was a Methodist minister. Would anyone know what church(es) he might have been preaching at? Or what school 9 yr old Maud would have attended? His wife's sister in law was staying with them at the time. Her name was Bertie Hill. Any info on these people will be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays. A new cousin a day keeps the boredom away! Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1801 Surname: Stallings, Williamson ------------------------- Help! I am trying to find out more about Mrs. Bridget Williamson who married William Daniel Stallings on Feb 23, 1848 in Pike County, Alabama. William Daniel was a farmer from Butler County, Alabama but nothing is known about Bridget Williamson except that she was born Nov 30, 1812 and died Oct 13, 1887 (and that is it). Some items passed down from my grandfather (the grandson of William Daniel and Bridget) makes mention of a B. A. Danley bearing the same dates as Bridget Williamson. It is not know if her maiden name was Danley or if she remarried after William Daniel died in 1877 (doubtful). My only guess is that she had some ties to Pike County as none is known for William Daniel Stallings in the county. Can someone help me? Thanks. Barb

Siler attended the University of Ala; he served in the WBTS as Pvt, University of Ala, Corps of Cadets; there is a service record on file for Q.P. Siler at NARA and probably also at ADAH; since Minnie lived until 1926, I had expected to find that she would have filed for pension in Pike, but found nary a thing. Not related, just jumped in the conversation Homer
I am researching the HENDRICKS families of southeast Alabama. I've found the census records in 1850 and 1860 on Allen R. HENDRICK and Elinor. I agree with your statement that she was the widow of George CARNLEY. There's lots of entries in the Orphan Court Minutes of Pike Co. about George's estate. He died intestate and Elinor applied for dower rights. I am trying to prove the parents of Josiah HENDRIX (1820-1864) of Henry Co., Al. The earliest that I've found Hendrix/Hendricks in Henry, Dale, & Barbour counties is 1830. I know a lot of them came to Alabama via Georgia. Will be glad to give more information if anyone is interested. Patricia Long Dothan, Al jalpal@snowhill.com

Just received your Abstracts from General Estates Books 20-25. Wow, what a gift. I've been looking for any information on the parents or siblings of my 3rd great grandfather, William Perdue, since 1991. The 1850 Pike Co. census had listed as members of his household, an 'Easter Perdue - 50 yrs' and 'M E Perdue - 18'. I could assume this was his mother and brother -- William was listed as 31 so the ages played out okay. But, I couldn't find anything else that either confirmed or reputed my assumption. When I started flipping through your book, the first name I saw was Esther (or Easter) Perdue and below her was Mahlan Perdue. Both Easter and Mahlan had died in 1856 and among the listing of the heirs for Easter was my William. I know now that she was the mother and M E was a brother. It also named 2 other brothers in Georgia and 2 sisters and their spouses. I was tempted to dance a jig. I just wanted to say -- Keep up the good work, guys. I truly appreciate it. San Antonio is a long way from Troy but if I could give you a big Texas hug and a kiss I would! Diane Christie Researching from Pike Co., AL -- Mullins and Perdue
Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1794 Surname: McNair, McCaskell, McCaskill, Kindred, Harris ------------------------- I have a lot of information about the Gilbert McNair line, especially the one that goes to TX. There were so many Gilberts it is confusing, and I wonder even if I have it right. Maybe we should compare notes. Do you have any connection with the McCaskell's, or McCaskill family. My great grandmother was McNair, and she married a Kindred. Her name was Mary Katherine, I think they called her Kate. She had brothers Neal, Archie, Daniel, John Merdick, Acie Edward - and sisters: Annie and Lissie Bell. Mary Katherine McNair was the daughter of Gilbert McNair and Nancy Margaret McCaskell. Anything sound likely to match? Note: There are even several people with LEE as a middle name throughout my family.
