Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1889 Surname: Brooks ------------------------- A publication of the Pike County Historical and Genealogical Society (Vol. 38; Nos 1&2 1999)--Marriage Records of Pike Co, AL 1849-1859-- shows a Williamson Brooks married a "Mary Wise" on 19 May 1853. Could be your man? Also a mention of a Jordan Brooks in the Pike Co Heritage Book , which recently came out, but the ages are wrong--perhaps related somehow? Perhaps you can get a copy of this to look at.It is on page 206 under "Robert Rose Brooks" heading.

Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1885 Surname: Crow, Robets, McCorkle, Gibson, Lambert ------------------------- John Crow was the son of W. L. D. Crow and Nancy Roberts, daughter of Jesse Roberts and Margaret McCorkle. In the 1860 census he is 8 years of age. His father died as a prisoner of war in Camp Chase, OH in Feb. 1865. His mother later married John P. Gibson and after John,s death, Berry Lambert in Erath County, TX. John seems to have stayed in AL after Nancy and the rest of the family left for TX. I think he ended up with the Crow lands in Milo south of Troy. Any info about John and his descendants would be appreciated. Thanks, Ray Holt
Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1884 Surname: Crow, Roberts, McCorkle, Gibson, Lambert ------------------------- My ggrandfather, W. L. D. Crow was married to Nancy Roberts, daughter of Jesse Roberts and Margaret McCorkle. He owned land in Milo, south of Troy, before the Civil War. Adjacent land owners were Jesse Roberts, John P. Gibson and Berry Lambert. W. L. D. died as a prisoner of war in Camp Chase, OH in Feb. 1865. Nancy married John P. Gibson in 1868 and, after John's death, married Berry Lambert about 1875 in Erath County, TX. Could anyone do look ups of land records and probate files in the Troy Courthouse for me. I would be willing to reimburse for any expense. Thank you, Ray Holt

Gibson about 1868 after W. L. D. Crow died in Camp Chase, OH as a prisoner of War. She was the daughter of Jesse Roberts and Margaret McCorkle. Could John P. Gibson be from the same Gibson family? They all lived in the Milo community. Thanks, Ray Holt

Is there available, anything like an index or description of the contents of the final Heritage book so that those of us that didn't contribute our historical stories can evaluate if we should buy a copy? Thanks Alvin Perkins alvin.perkins@worldnet.att.net
