If there is an index to the heritage book, I wonder if anyone could check to see if there could be any information in the new Pike Co. Heritage book about a James David Hopper who was in Troy area in about 1850-57 period. Thank you, Dorothy Hopper
Hello, My name is Dan Fulghum and I'm researching my Great-Great-Grandfather, Uriah Parker. He was born June 22, 1787, in Georgia. He moved to Montgomery County, Alabama, where he married Susannah J. Davis. She disappeared and he later married Mary Mothershed in Pike County, Alabama. I understand that Mary is possibly Native American. Uriah was a preacher and help establish several Baptist churches in Alabama and Arkansas. Uriah and Mary settled in Bradley County, Arkansas, where they had eight children. Mary disappeared and he married my Great-Great-Grandfather, Marvel McLendon's, widow Temperance Hawthorn Thompson McLendon. Supposedly, Marvel and Temperance had also been married in Pike County. If you have any information regarding these Parkers or McLendons, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Dan Fulghum Houston, Texas

Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1904 Surname: HARRIS, FAULK, HEAD ------------------------- I can't locate a marriage record in Barbour Co. for the Francis Asberry Harris - Martha A. E. Faulk marriage. Martha was born in Louisville in in 1852, d/o Jesse Edward Faulk and Nancy Head. Of course the 1847 marriage date would be incorrect as you also indicated you believed Jesse Edward to be born ca 1850. Do you have a source for this marriage? Could they possibly have been married in Pike County? Martha had a daughter named Isabel but no father has been determined as it is believed she utilized the surname Faulk.

I received this wonderful information today from John Gilmer. It made my year! I have been searching for documentation of the location of my great great grandmother, Martha B. Brooks McDaniel/McDonald, place of death and time of death. Martha was a sister of Caleb S. Brooks, below. I knew she was in Bullock county, AL in 1870 enumerated on the federal census. Her husband remarried in 1874. We did not know where she died and when. I am forwarding this to the Pike County website for other researchers. cf Cynthia You may have the following but, if not, I knew you would be interested: From Estate of Caleb S. Brooks That Jas T. Brooks the petetioner, Martha B. McDaniel, Miriam M. Gilmore who intermarried with Wm. M. Gilmore now dead, Rebecca C. Dubose who intermarried with Wm. H. Dubose, Isabella J. Brooks are over twenty one years of age and all of whom reside in Pike County except Martha B. McDaniel and her husband, Elijah McDaniel--who reside in Montgomery Co. Alabama. That Mary A. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1896 Surname: Youngblood, Craig ------------------------- With a little help from Dorothy Quaif, I have found the correct Pike County connection. But I still would like to see how much of the family is still there. It appears that William L. Youngblood, my gggrandfather married Elizabeth J. Craig in 1853 in Pike County, Al. William L. Youngblood was b. 7-27-1833 and died 10-15-1862, while in the CSA. After William died, Elizabeth married William H. Craig on 4-23-1875. They moved to Texas in 1876. I found William H. Craig burried in the same cemetery as my ggrandfather, Joseph Richard Youngblood, Rock Prairie Cemetery, Madison Co., Texas. Joseph's mother is not listed on the cemetery roster, indicating that she had died elsewhere before they moved to Madison Co., Tx. Anyone familiar with this Youngblood-Craig line, give me a shout.
