I've done just a little reserch on the Motes family and that is where I learned about the Motes Cemetery. I understand it was near the Motes old home place very near to Goshen which is south a few miles south of Hwy 10 /29 which goes through Luverne and Troy. I don't believe there was a church there. If I was planning to go to the cemetery I would ask for directions at one of the businesses located in Goshen. Louis J. Corley owns the property now, you might call him. I found two Louis J. Corleys in the phome book. The first one would probably be the right one. Their numbers are: Louis J, Corley______202 Flavia Cir___334-566-4530 Louis J. Corley Jr____613 Wilson Dr___334-566-5521 Any Motes out there that might be able to help Annette? Lots of luck, Wynnette

Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/1942 Surname: Bland, Butts, Jones ------------------------- Your Pike Co. names are of great interest. I think a lot of people are researching these names and would be very interested in your sources. Many old timers have said that she was a full blooded Indian, but so far no source has been found to prove that. As there were mainly Creek Indians in the area, the Cherokee statement is interesting. We know she was originally from SC and is buried in Troy, Pike Co., AL. Looking forward to your source cite.
