I have since my post found out that I am actually looking for Augustine Harp and Mary Jane Singleton Harp who were married in Barbour County on Oct 23, 1864. Augustine (Gus) and Mary Jane are my maternal great grandparents, I hope!! Thanks for responding. Gayle

    3. Posted on: Pike County, Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Pike/12061 Surname: Stephens ------------------------- I found a census (1840) entry in the Charlotte, NC library about 13 years ago on this Stephens family (Joshua/Delila)...they then lived in Columbus County , NC... Joshua was born in 1800 and Delila in 1819...I determined they moved to Pike County between 1835 and 1839...they appeared in the Pike Cty. census of 1850...their children were born as follows: Nancy 1833 in NC, Patience 1835 in NC, Joseph 1839 in AL, Leonard 1842 in AL, Rebecca 1844 in AL, and Mary 1849 in AL. I also think their son Joseph is the father of Lee Andrew Stephens. Joseph Stephens (aka Elder J.H. Stephens) was born 8/7/1839 and died 8/31/1909. He is buried in the Chapel Hill Cemetary in Pike County. His son, Lee Andrew Stephens, b.2/13/1879 was killed by bootleggers he reported (he was a minister) on Nov. 25, 1910. I am confused by you listing of John, Newton, and Daniel. They may have struck out on their on and were not living with Joshua and Delila in the 1840 census. Also, if Delila was their birth mother, she would have been 12 or 13 at the time of the oldest one's birth. Not impossible, but...??? I have watched this board for years looking to run across a common thread. I look forward to clarification.
