I've seen queries about the "Three Notched Road" that crossed Alabama. It apparently crossed Pike County and traveled South to Mississippi Territory. Does anyone have a map of this road or can they tell me where I can get one. I am looking for information on where it entered Alabama and where it exited. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Valerie J. Adams vjadams@worldnet.att.net
The Pike County Heritage Book is already out of print. I called and talked to Alice Bice of The Heritage Publishing Consultants,Inc. They are now taking orders to do a reprint of this book. When they get 100 orders, it will be reprinted. I just thought I would write and let everyone know. They have several orders now. If you are interested. The cost of the book will be $75.00. That includes shipping. Alabama residents will have to ad another $5.60 for sales tax. Send your check or moneyorder to: The Heritage Publishing Consultants, Inc. PO Box 67 Clanton, AL 35046 Should you need to speak with someone. The phone number is: 1-800 568-1611 I am one of the ones who missed out on it the first time. Looking very forward to a reprint. Thanks, MaryMargaret

We are trying to find out if any old records are available for Bethel Presbyterian Church, originally located in the old community of Scotland about 10 miles south of Union Springs. The church was in the portion of Pike that became Bullock Co. Some of our Leslie/McCaskill family moved their certificates of membership from Bethel to Union Springs Presbyterian Church when the latter was established in 1853. We have written Bethel asking if and where their records might be located and have received no response. The Presbyterian Church repository at Montreat has no records for Bethel, but does have the Union Springs church records. The question we are trying to get answered is where the original certificate(s) for our Leslie/McCaskill folks was from in (probably) North or South Carolina. Thanks for any help or suggestions! Evelyn
