Pike Co. listers-- I just received an e-mail purporting to be from this address: sydtom@wnclink.com which appeared to be a response to my recent post to the Pike Co. list about the WILSON family. This e-mail quoted part of my WILSON post, and then at the end, said: "Take a look to the attachment." The attachment that came along with this e-mail was entitled: Humor.txt.pif Having been duly warned, I deleted the message without opening its attachment. If you receive similar e-mails which seem to be responses to posts on this list, DO NOT OPEN any attachments that come with them, especially attachments which have double extensions (like *.txt.pif). So far, I've been lucky--but we need to be VERY careful about attachments! Best regards, Ron Head (Montgomery, AL)
Do you have any information on Asa Peugh. All I know is that he married Liddie Drain 10-23-1890. His brother was there to witness it. His name is James Peugh. James married Sarah M. Bryant on 12-1891. Asa and Liddie were not together for to long. They had a son named John Chapman Pugh. John didn't know to much about Asa because of his parents not staying together. I don't know anything else on them. I went to Arburn Unv. and to the Alabama Archives to find their marriage certicate. I live in New Orleans. I don't know how old he was or where he was born. They were married in Marshall Co. and the last name is spelled Peugh not Pugh. I'm at my end. Please let me know if this belongs with you or not. Thanks Shirley

Hi, Just saw you request for a marriage record from Pike Co., Alabama. I know the frustration trying to get any information from this county off the web. I also had a problem trying to find marriage records but there is a kind lady named Catherine at uliepins@p-c-net.net that came to my rescue. She has books in her home that has these very old records. I sent her my name(s) with what I thought was the probable year(s) of marriage and she looked them up. Found two of mine for sure. Hope this can be of help to you. Maybe you would like to join me in writing a letter to the Pike Co. Genealogical Society (can get address off the web) and encourage them to make this available to many people by putting it in a web site. Good luck, hope you can get your date. I was trying to find some kind of proof on who Mathew Van Buren Gibson's parents and grandparents were. I found contradicting information. One source says his father was Edwin Leonard Gibson and his grandfather was Samuel Royal Gibson. The other source says his father was Edward Larkin Gibson and his grandfather was Samuel B. Gibson. The later source says that there was two Gibson families in Pike County of considerable importance. Could someone please help...Thanks
Hi....I have recently started researching my MCHENRY family. I have found a few McHenry's scattered in Butler, Lowndes, Pike, Covington, Crenshaw, and Coffee Counties. I am searching for information on William MCHENRY, b. abt 1813/19 in SC, married to Anna (born in Tennessee), children, Martha, Vicey Elippaz, Britton, William N. William and his family are located on the 1860 Pike County Census with his family. William is later found on the 1870 Crenshaw County Census (he must have lived in the part of Pike County that eventually became Crenshaw County in 1866). On that 1870 census, 1 more person appears..John, 26. Britton McHenry married Nellie ?, and settled in Pike County. Him and his wife are located on the 1880 Pike County Census. He is 21, and she 18. I am searching for ANY information anyone might have about William McHenry's father. I am confused on the fact that his father my be John C. McHenry, b. 1790, SC. I am a direct decendant of John C., but I do not know if William was his son, or brother. Or he may not be any relation at all, althought that is highly unlikely. Any information about this line and the decendants of William and Anna McHenry is greatly appreciated. At this point, I am grateful for crumbs lol. Thanks.....Jennyfer McHenry-Scarbrough --- ALPIKE-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > ATTACHMENT part 1 message/rfc822 > > ALPIKE-D Digest Volume 01 : Issue 133 > > Today's Topics: > #1 [AL-PIKE] Re: Residency > [starbar@wt.net] > #2 [AL-PIKE] RE:McGilvra > [Newlakehome@aol.com] > #3 [AL-PIKE] RE:Watch for this Virus > [Newlakehome@aol.com] > #4 Re: [AL-PIKE] RE:Watch for this Vi ["Suzanne > Pickens" <pickenss@bellso] > #5 [AL-PIKE] 1892 Marriage ["J. Hello, I am trying to find out where I can get census records and cemetery records. I have been looking for some of my McGilvra's, or McGilvray's that came from Florida. On 4/10/00 Mr. Bill Huggins had sent me an e-mail with Nancy McGilvra and children on the 1880 census. At that time I did not know theses were mine. But, being the keep everything type of person that I am. Otherwise a packrat. I kept his mail. Well, now that I have filled in a lot of blanks, it happens that these are my family. It sure clears up a lot about what happened to them. And I am very grateful to Bill. So, now where can I get records of census & cemeteries? I would appreciate any help. Best Regards, Patty
