Are any of the Pike County cemetery records on-line? Many of our Louisiana cemeteries are available, but I haven't found any for Pike Co. I am especially interested in the China Grove area. Does anyone know if there is still such a community today? My grandparents (Sessions and Weldons) lived there before the war and the death of my grandfather, who died during the seige of Vicksburg. If anyone has any information on the availability of this type of Alabama data, please let me know. Karen Palermo
WATCH FOR SIRCAM SirCam is the nickname for a nasty little Internet worm that's arriving in lots of Inboxes. Over the weekend we've had hundred's of infected messages arriving plus reports from many Woody's Watch readers. So before we start this Office Tips issue of WOW, we'll take a moment to tell you what to look for. Sircam (full name W32.Sircam.Worm@mm) arrives either via email or it copied to shared network drives. The email contains a subject line including a file name from the sending computer. The subject and message body can be in English or Spanish. In English the message body will always start with "Hi! How are you?" and end with "See you later. Thanks." If you run the file attached to the email message the virus will spread via email in various ways and also copy itself to other computers on your network. In this latter way you can be infected even if you are good about checking / ignoring email attachments. The virus can also delete files on your computer, fill the hard drive to capacity and compromise your privacy (by sending a random file from your computer out to email recipients. You should update your anti-virus software then do a full scan of your hard drives and any network shared drives. If the virus is detected the AV software should remove it but you should also empty the Recycle bin and make sure your Autoexec.bat file hasn't been tampered with. For full details on Sircam and removing it check out ZDnet http://chkpt.zdnet.com/chkpt/hud0007500a/www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0 ,5594,2776123,00.html or Symantec http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html PLEASE READ THIS and my apologies uf you got it from me!!!!!!!!!! I have used this on my computer. Carla

Hi! My Daniel Jernigan was the son of Jesse Jernigan/Naomi Bell. However, Jesse Jernigan had a brother named John, and a sister Sarah (Sally). Jesse, John and Sarah (Sally) were the children of Elisha Jernigan/Zilpha Gibbs. I have been trying to find information on John and Sarah.....could this be the same John in question? Thanks for your reply, Kathy
Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetary is located on US-29 about 20 miles from Troy, Alabama near (or at) Josie, Alabama in the north-east corner of Pike County, Alabama. The Church and Cemetary is on the north side of US-29.
BlankI noticed the posts for the Beauchamps. I have a photo portrait of a very elegant woman, probably taken in the 1920s, my grandmother (from Brundidge) told me it was Kathryn Beauchamp Wood, "Aunt Katy" (she pronounced it CATy), for whom she was named. Does anyone have information? Suzanne
Suzanne, That is Cathyrne Beauchamp, Oct 15, 1860-Sep 3, 1938; also marked "Cattie" not related but I was intrigued when I saw the markings; somehow, I had a vision of a lovely lady; buried next to a M.A. Wood, Apr 22, 1843-Sep 6, 1910; buried Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Pike County; don't really remember, but think she may have been married more than once. Do you know if M.A. was Confederate Soldier Major Wood who served as a Pvt in Clanton's Btry, Ala Lgt Arty? Thanks, Deo Vindice, Homer T.
Hello, I am trying to find any of my McGilvray's in Covington County. They were among the first settlers of Florida and are listed in the pioneers of Florida Archives. Neil McGilberry b ca 1770 m. Mary Unknown b ca 1780 NC and they had Elizabeth b 1812 SC, Alexander b 1818 SC, Mary b 1820 SC. They were enumerated on the 1830 census of Walton Co. FL., and on the 1840 census, where at that time the surname was McGilvery. By 1850 Neill was gone and Alexander was the head of the household. Included in the census were his mother Mary and his 2 sisters. Now the surname was McGilvray. By 1860 Alexander had m Nancy Kimbrel daughter of Silas and Elizabeth Lee. They had Neal b 1852 FL, Sarah b 1854 FL, John b 1856 FL, Mary E. b 1860 and along with theses was Elizabeth Lee 61 years of age. By 1865 there were additional children, Daniel b 1865 Fl and William b 1868. The two sister of Alexander were enumerated in a different household. I find them in Walton until 1885 where at that time they have a family consisting of McLean brothers and sisters. Also, I have a bill of sale from the school board of Walton Co, to which land was sold to Mary McGilvray. Now in 1880 Nancy McGilvra as it is on the census is in Pike Co along with her children Neal, Sarah E., Mary E., it says David but it was Daniel, William, and Katie. I find no more of them in Pike. However by 1900 I find my great grandfather Daniel in Covington with his wife Ida Marsh McGilvra b 1875 ALA daughter of Alexander Marsh and Granddaughter of Needhom Marsh, the children, Jesse Lee b 1893, Alice b 1895, Matta b 1898. Now Ida dies in 1906, by 1910 Daniel and children are in dale Co. with 2 additional children from Ida and himself J.D. McGilvray (name change again) b 1901, and Arrie B. b 1904. In 1913 Daniel dies of Bowel troubles. My sister of 42 dies of Chrones disease last month. It is hereditary. He dies in Babbie. I do not find any more on him. All that I know is Alice my Grandmother m. George Allman in 1914 in Enterprise where she was born. And they moved to Florida. Now what I am trying to find is....where are the rest of Alexanders and Nancy's children? I know that Neal McGilvra (Daniels brother) m Mary Danforth in Barbour Co. I am trying to find the rest and what happened to their Mother Nancy? Any help at all would be deeply appreciated. Patty
Brad, I have our family on rootsweb: <http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=mills> and I am in the process of updating it. I saw this and realized that I don't have anything on your side of the family. If you are able and wouldn't mind, would you please send me a GEDCOM of what you have so I may add your family in and I would like to look over the rest of what you have on the Mills family to fill any holes I might have. Thank you, Terry Terrance Richard Mills, son of Louis Leroy Mills, son of Jackson Leroy Mills, son of Benjamin Leonard Mills (Lucinda Catherine Mills' brother), son of Andrew Jackson Mills, son of Andrew Mills brc@hatcherstubbs.com wrote: > Ava, > Lucinda Catherine Mills married Jacob Caleb Spivey in 1875 in Pike County.
